Gingrey recognized as "Taxpayers' Friend"

The National Taxpayers Union (NTU) has recognized Congressman Gingrey for his pro-taxpayer voting record over the past year. The nonpartisan citizen group – which represents over 362,000 members – has announced that Rep. Gingrey was one of only a handful of lawmakers in Congress to win the 2007 “Taxpayers’ Friend Award.” The award is presented to Members of Congress who have demonstrated strong support for reducing wasteful federal spending, taxes, debt, and regulation.
“While many Members of Congress talked about reducing the size of government last year, Congressman Gingrey backed up those words with votes,” NTU President Duane Parde said. “This award proves that Congressman Gingrey is a staunch ally we can count on in our battle to restore fiscal responsibility to Washington .” “By consistently voting to reduce federal spending, taxes, and debt, Congressman Gingrey has led by example in the fight to ease the burden on taxpayers everywhere,” continued Parde. “If every Member of Congress had voted as responsibly as Congressman Gingrey did in 2007, Americans could have enjoyed much lower taxes and less waste in government,” Parde concluded. “Overburdened taxpayers in Georgia and across the nation owe Congressman Gingrey a debt of gratitude for his hard work on their behalf. He has truly earned the title ‘Taxpayers’ Friend.’”
